Redmon 64 bits version

Postby gvollant » Sat Mar 12, 2005 9:51 am

I just made a 64 bits port and compilations of the utility RedMon

http://www.winimage.com/misc/redmon/

the original page of Redmon are

http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/redmon/

http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/redmon/en/redmon.htm

There is a lot of page on the internet to configure RedMon and Ghostscript together, by example:

http://pad.olsonnetwork.com/faqs/MakePD ... mages.html is written for Windows 98, but manipulation are more or less same with Windows XP (including 64 bits)

Vista Build 5744 x64

Postby trunksy » Sun Nov 12, 2006 9:12 pm

I'm trying RedMon with Windows Vista Build 5744 x64 on a Core2Duo laptop. I get to the part where it asks me to choose a name for the port. I accept the default of RPT1:. When I hit OK, it returns the error, "Specified port cannot be added. Operation could not be completed (error 0x00000001)." I guess the only 64-bit PDF printer driver available for Vista right now is to shell out the $500 for Acrobat 8.0.

Run as Administrator

Postby jamey » Fri Oct 26, 2007 6:20 pm

When running the setup try it again but right-click and "Run as Administrator". This solves this issue. Basically it all works when configured correctly BUT REDMON uses some antiquated dialog popup that Vista will only display under a special "Interactive Services dialog detection" mode. Someone needs to update RedMon with a Vista-friendly save-as dialog control. I'm no Windows systems programmer so I'm probably not that guy but if the x64 source is out there I'll take a look at it as I can get around in Visual Studio as needed.
